'Coming 2 America' Teaser Trailer: Eddie Murphy Becomes King and Learns He Has a Son

Arsenio Hall also stars in the Amazon Prime Video movie, a sequel of the 1988 comedy 'Coming to America,' which debuts March 5.

Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall are ready for a fresh Zamunda-to-New York City adventure in the first teaser for Coming 2 America.

Amazon Prime Video debuted the teaser trailer for the sequel of the 1988 comedy Coming to America on Tuesday morning.

Coming 2 America sees Prince Akeem (Murphy), now set to become king, discovering he has a son he never knew about, a street-savvy Queens native named Lavelle (Jermaine Fowler). Honoring his father's dying wish to groom his son as a newly crowned prince, Akeem must return to America.

The teaser trailer kicks off with the voice of James Earl Jones, who plays Akeem's father. "You must heed my words before I'm gone, my son," he says. "Now you will be king. But the throne must pass to a male heir. Akeem, it appears, you have a son. He must be found."

Cut to Akeem talking with his trusted confidant, Semmi (Arsenio Hall). "Prepare the royal jet. We are going back to America," Akeem says.

"Oh hell no, your majesty!" protests Sammi.

But the duo do make their way back to America, naturally.

In the teaser, they are shown interacting with several folks — many of whom are played by Murphy and Hall themselves, donning makeup and wigs.

In addition to Murphy, Hall and Jones, original cast favorites from Coming to America include Shari Headley, John Amos and the memorable barbershop crew. Newcomers include Fowler, Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, KiKi Layne, Nomzamo Mbatha and Teyana Taylor.

Coming 2 America will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on March 5, both in the U.S. and more than 240 countries worldwide. Amazon Studios revealed the release date in November along with officially announcing it had closed a deal with Paramount Pictures acquiring worldwide rights to the comedy.
