Common arrives at the 57th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

Common made a "don't shoot" gesture during the performance of the Oscar-nominated tune.

John Legend and Common took the stage to perform their Selma tune "Glory" at the 57th annual Grammys.

The performers were backed by a choir composed entirely of African-American males as Selma clips screened in the background.

During the performance, Common raised his hands in a "hands up, don't shoot" gesture, a reference to the protests in Ferguson, Mo., following the shooting death of Michael Brown in August of last year.

The song is nominated for best original song at this year's Oscars. Selma is also nominated for best picture.
