Constantin Film holds steady in Q3

German indie aims to earn up to $18 mil for the year

STOCKHOLM -- German indie Constantin Film held steady in the third quarter, with local-language hits "Vicky the Viking" and "Wedding Fever in Campobello" helping boost group revenue to €71.7 million ($108 million) and net profits to €5.2 million ($7.8 million) from €1.9 million over the same period last year.

Nine-month revenue is on keel with 2008 figures at €167.2 million ($252 million). Net profits to Sept. 30 were €8.1 million ($12 million), down from the €11.4 million profit Constantin booked in the first nine months of 2008.

With big-budget period film "Pope Joan" and F. Gary Gary-directed thriller "Law Abiding Citizen" on its fourth quarter slate, Constantin is sticking to earlier forecasts that have it earning between €10 million - €12 million ($15 million - $18 million) for the year.
