Constantin thumbs up to Kirch takeover

EM.SportMedia offering $29 per share

BERLIN -- The board of Germany indie film giant Constantin Film has given the thumbs up to Leo Kirch’s planned takeover of the company.

Octogenerian mogul Kirch, through his sports rights group EM.SportMedia, has made a buyout bid for Constantin, offering 18.31 euros ($29) a share for the Munich-based producer of “Downfall” and “Perfume -- The Story of a Murderer.”

Constantin head Fred Kogel, who is leaving the company at the end of the year, said he will sell his 11,150 shares in the company -- at the offering price that will net the exiting exec around $350,000.
