Cookie Jar snares Richter for L.A. post

TORONTO -- Canadian animation producer Cookie Jar Entertainment on Monday said it has hired Hasbro Properties Group executive Susan Richter as its Los Angeles-based vp of U.S. licensing.

Richter, most recently director of licensing at Hasbro, joins Toronto-based Cookie Jar a week after the Canadian company lured Wiebke Hoefer away from rival Canadian cartoon producer Nelvana Ltd. to become its Paris-based director of European sales.

"Susan Richter is a consummate licensing executive whose depth of experience, from preschool through girls, boys and tweens, is a perfect match for our growing portfolio of properties," Cookie Jar senior vp of consumer products John Gildea, said in a statement.

While at Hasbro, Richter oversaw licensing for such well-known brands as Transformers, Playskool, GI Joe and Tonka. Having earned a B.A. in broadcast communications from Temple University, Richter cut her teeth in the apparel industry, working for L.A. Gear and Danskin, among others.

Cookie Jar, formerly Cinar Entertainment, has among its own properties "The Doodlebops" and "Spider Riders" in addition to perennial hits like "Arthur" and "Caillou."
