Copestake joins Endemol marketing team

Will take up post of global head of marketing

LONDON -- Endemol chief commercial officer Tom Toumazis has brought in his former Disney colleague Steve Copestake to spearhead the global reality and scripted program producer's international marketing ambitions.

Effective March 29, Copestake will take the post of global head of marketing and joins Endemol from Disney-ABC-ESPN Television, where he was senior vp international marketing for seven years, overseeing the international television marketing of Disney's most successful TV and boxoffice hits including such TV juggernauts as "Lost" "Desperate Housewives," "High School Musical" and "Grey's Anatomy."

In his new role he will oversee all Endemol's marketing activities, focusing on global entertainment formats and also working closely with Endemol's distribution business, Endemol Worldwide Distribution, on finished programming. The producer of such formats as "Wipeout" and "Big Brother" has recently ramped up its scripted ambitions with the acquisition of U.K. independent producers Tiger Aspect and Darlow Smithson.

During his 25-year career he has also been head of marketing communications satcaster BSkyB and a Board Director at leading European marketing agency.

Reporting to Toumazis, who was formerly Disney head of international television in EMEA and Canada, Copestake will also work closely with Endemol Worldwide Distribution's CEO Cathy Payne.

"Steve's outstanding track record in brand communication and strategic marketing has seen him play a key role in the development and continued success of some of the world's biggest TV franchises," Toumazis said.

"He is the ideal candidate to lead the marketing of Endemol's global brands whilst offering a first rate post sales service to our partners around the world."
