Corbis gets into talent negotiation biz

Hopes to become one-stop shop for marketers

Corbis, best known for managing the rights to images of such iconic figures as Steve McQueen and the Wright Brothers, is adding talent negotiation to its list of services.

Owned by Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates, Corbis has been a competitor to Getty Images, which is being purchased by a private-equity firm for $2.1 billion.

By adding talent negotiation, Corbis hopes to sell itself as a one-stop shop for marketers in search of celebrity endorsements.

Corbis is a privately held company that boasted $50 million in revenue last year, 48% better than the previous year.

"There is phenomenal growth in the use of music and other iconic content in both advertising and consumer products," CEO Gary Shenk said.
