Corey Hawkins Joins Cast of 'Six Degrees of Separation'
The 'Straight Outta Compton' star will return to Broadway next spring in the revival of John Guare's play, appearing alongside Allison Janney and John Benjamin Hickey.
Corey Hawkins, who turned heads onscreen playing Dr. Dre in Straight Outta Compton, has joined the cast of the upcoming Broadway revival of John Guare's Six Degrees of Separation.
He will take on the role of Paul, the young African-American con man who passes himself off as the college friend of the son of well-heeled New York couple Ouisa and Flan Kittredge, setting off a complicated trail of deceit.
As previously announced, Allison Janney and John Benjamin Hickey will play the Kittredges, who put Paul up for the night after he claims to have been mugged, but are subsequently shocked to find him in bed with a hustler.
Paul was played in the original 1990 Broadway production by Courtney B. Vance, who received a Tony nomination for the role, which went to Will Smith in the 1993 screen adaptation.
Hawkins will next be seen on big screens in Kong: Skull Island, and on television in Fox's franchise reboot, 24: Legacy. He last appeared on Broadway in 2013 in a mixed-race staging of Romeo and Juliet, which starred Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad.
Produced by Stuart Thompson and Tim Levy and directed by Trip Cullman, Six Degrees of Separation will begin previews April 5 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in a limited 15-week engagement officially opening April 25.
