Announced on Tuesday, the full lineup of the fifth edition includes a retrospective of her films and a Central American cinema competition.
The Costa Rica Film Festival announced on Tuesday its fifth edition's full lineup, which will feature a retrospective of American director Kelly Reichardt (Certain Women), who will attend the festival held in the city of San Jose from Dec. 8-17.
The retrospective program will screen Reichardt's latest film, Certain Women, starring Kristen Stewart, Laura Dern and Michelle Williams, which took the best film award at the London Film Festival in October. Reichard was also nominated for best director for this film in the upcoming Independent Spirit Awards.
The program also features Reichardt's Night Moves (2013), Meek’s Cutoff (2010), Wendy and Lucy (2008), Old Joy (2006) and River of Grass (1994)
The festival will screen 72 films spread in a program that also includes a Central American films competition, aimed to "feel the pulse of local and regional film production, offering a detailed landscape of our current film situation in order to contribute to its visibility on both local and international levels," according to a statement issued by the festival.
"Our identity and our program are built around a free, coherent and risky cinema, with films that avoid common places and bring us closer to different voices and visions of the world," said the fest's artistic director Marcelo Quesada.
“The CRFIC continues to be focused on consolidating itself as a top platform for Costa Rican and Central American cinema," he added
