Cottbus Festival Unveils Line-Up
The eastern German event is the premiere film festival for Eastern European cinema.
COLOGNE, Germany – The Cottbus Film Festival, the premiere film fest for cinema from Eastern Europe, has announced the line-up for its 21st edition, which runs Nov.1-6.
Among the competition titles are Dmitry Povo Povolotsky’s My Dad Baryshnikov, about a clumsy would-be dancer convinced his father is the legendary Mikhail Baryshnikov; the Serbian horror thriller The Enemy from director Dejan Zecevic and Romanian-Polish coproduciton Crulic – The Path to Beyond, an animated true tale about a young Romanian imprisoned in Poland.
Making up this year’s Cottbus jury are Russian producer Alexander Rodnyansky, German actor Jacob Matschenz, Serbian screenwriter Milena Markovic, Romanian director Tudor Giurgiuand Polish actress Anja Antonowicz.
In addition to the festival, Cottbus holds a two-day industry event, Connecting Cottbus, intended as a platform for networking and deal-making between European producers east and west.
