Court to rule on Prop 8 case today

If stay is lifted, same-sex marriage legal in Calif.

A federal court in California will decide today (Thursday) whether to keep a temporary stay in place in the case that overturned the state's ban on same-sex marriages.

According to CNN, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California will announce its decision between 9am and noon PT.

If the stay is lifted, same-sex marriages will be legal in the state.

Last week, a U.S. District Judge overturned California's ban on same-sex marriage, highlighting that Proposition 8 violates the U.S. Constitution.
