The deal is a sign of confidence for the relationship.

The Criterion Collection and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have signed a multi-year extension to their distribution agreement.

The deal is a sign of confidence for the relationship between the two parties as SPHE has been distributing Criterion’s films only since 2014.

A Hard Day’s Night and The Great Beauty were among those released last year while David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive and David Cronenberg’s early horror movie The Brood are on tap for later in 2015. Black Stallion was released this week.

The deal continues the domestic distribution of Criterion product in the home entertainment window through SPHE.

"Working together over the past year — both on the distribution of Criterion’s titles and on adding new Sony titles to the Collection — has been rewarding on every front,” said Criterion Collection CEO Jonathan Turell. “We look forward to a successful collaboration for many more years."

Added SPHE president Man Jit Singh: “We are pleased to build upon the partnership with Criterion and view this extension as an affirmation of our efforts as a world-class distributor of content in the home entertainment industry.”
