Critics Week welcomes two newcomers
First-time directors in Festival de Cannes sidebarPARIS -- The Festival de Cannes' 48th annual Critics Week will open with first-time filmmaker Mathias Gokalp's "Rien de Personnel" (Nothing Personal), organizers said Monday.
The French title, produced by Kare Prods. and distributed by Rezo Films, stars well-known Gallic actors Jean-Pierre Darroussin, Denis Podalydes, Zabou Breitman, Pascal Greggory and Melanie Doutey.
Set for a November release in Gaul, "Personnel" follows a group of co-workers during a work-related gathering who discover over the course of the evening that their company might be purchased and that their jobs are at stake.
The sidebar also will screen another French freshman effort, Nassim Amaouche's "Adieu Gary." The drama, set in a dying factory town, stars Jean-Pierre Bacri, Dominique Reymond, Yasmine Belmadi, Sabrina Ouazani and Mahmed Arezki.
Both titles will vie for the Camera d'Or prize. Critics Week runs May 14-22.
