Cry of vengeance for 'Beat Kip'
EmptyParamount Vantage is bent on the vengeance comedy "Beat Kip," optioning the screenplay by Summer of Tears comedy troupe co-founders Todd Waldman and Rob Kerkovich and developing the feature with Comedy Central.
"Kip" revolves around three struggling college graduates who find a purpose in life: to travel across the country to fight an Ivy League student who stole one of their girlfriends.
Waldman and Kerkovich formed the Tears in 2004 and have toured the country ever since, buoyed by more than a dozen online shorts.
The Los Angeles-based troupe's slacker humor won them the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival's jury prize last year for best sketch comedy. The group has a TV pilot in development at Warner Bros.
Kerkovich next appears in Lionsgate's comedy sequel "Still Waiting …" with Justin Long. He and Waldman are repped by ICM.
