Gallic broadcasting authority the CSA unveiled the new networks from TF1, M6, NRJ Group, NextradioTV, Diversite TV France and Amaury.

France’s broadcasting authority the CSA ended the suspense on Tuesday and unveiled the six new channels selected for its DTT platform. Each free, digital-terrestrial channel will launch in high definition “before the end of 2012” and will cover 50% of metropolitan France by the second trimester of 2013, the CSA said.

The new networks include HD1 from TF1, dedicated to fiction and cinema, family channel 6ster (pronounced “sister”) from M6, sports network L’Equipe HD from the Amaury group, documentary channel RMC Decouverte from NextradioTV,  women’s channel Cherie HD from the NRJ group and a channel devoted entirely to diversity called Tvous la Telediversite.

Bordeaux, Paris and Marseille will be the first Gallic cities to air the networks as of Fall 2012.

More than 30 channels competed for the coveted position, with only six emerging victorious.
