Alon Marcovici will create new revenue streams in digital

TORONTO – Canadian broadcaster CTV on Friday named the executive who squeezed digital dimes from its recent 2010 Winter Olympics coverage to run the network's overall digital media strategy.

Alon Marcovici becomes digital media at CTV, charged with launching the network's news, sports and entertainment content across a range of digital platforms to create new revenue streams.

Marcovici twice managed the on-site NBC Olympics Research Room at the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney and the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.

He will retain his duties as vp of digital media for the CTV-led Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium, which plans wall-to-wall TV and online coverage of the 2012 Summer Games in London after its recent Vancouver Games success.
