'Off the Cuff' Podcast: Fashion Designer Katie Nehra Spills on Her Transition to Film
The designer-turned-screenwriter chats about the evolution of her line to "just jackets" and her first movie project with Chris Messina, "Alex of Venice," which is set to debut at the Tribeca Film Festival on Friday.

The designer, who founded L.A.-based fashion label Simone, joined Off the Cuff on Tuesday before jet-setting to New York for the debut of her film Alex of Venice, at the Tribeca Film Festival held this weekend. She dishes on how she went from being kicked out of high school to starting her own fashion line (Nicole Richie has been spotted wearing the brand's edgy leather jackets); why her writing partner is always asking her to "vag it up"; how she convinced Chris Messina to not only star in her first film, but to direct it as well; and why screenwriting is just her newest means of fulfilling a need -- "The best parts are hard to come by, so you might as well write yourself the best part".
