Cupid's arrow strikes New Line, writing duo

New Line is just that into Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein.

The studio has signed the duo to pen "Valentine's Day," a love story revolving around five relationships in Los Angeles, all of which are put through the paces during the course of one Feb. 14.

"On Valentine's Day, there's so much more pressure on a relationship," producer Mike Karz said.

Garry Marshall is attached to direct, while Karz and Wayne Rice are on board to produce "Day," based on a script by Katherine Fugate. Josie Rosen is exec producing, and Sam Brown and Mike Disco are overseeing for New Line.

The CAA-repped Kohn and Silverstein penned the ensemble rom-com "He's Just Not That Into You," the New Line pic based on Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo's best-seller that opens Friday.

New Line has not officially greenlighted "Day," but if things move forward, it could shoot this year for a potential Valentine's Day 2010 release.

New Line has strong enthusiasm for Kohn and Silverstein; the duo also is penning "How to Be Single," a story of single women that's based on Tuccillo's novel. (partialdiff)
