D Films acquires 'Max Manus' for Canada

Norway's foreign language Oscar contender

TORONTO -- Indie distributor D Films has acquired the Canadian rights to "Max Manus," the Norwegian World War II epic and that country's foreign language Oscar contender.

The drama about a true-life Norwegian resistance fighter by directors Espen Sandbergand and Joachim Roenning dominated Norway's film awards in September after it screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Toronto-based D Films picked up all Canadian media rights to the title from sales agent TrustNordisk.

The Canadian acquisition follows earlier deals for "Max Manus" in the U.K., France, Germany, Australia and Japan.
