Kanye West Front Row - H 2015

Here, the best soundbites from Thursday evening's ceremony, which drew Katy Perry, Rihanna and designer Jeremy Scott.

The Daily Front Row’s first annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards drew several A-list tastemakers including Katy Perry, Kanye West, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Jeremy Scott. Model Gigi Hadid and stylist Ilaria Urbinati were among those to receive awards at the lively, intimate show, which kicked off with presenter Kanye riffing on fashion as the work of God, and offering up his reasons as to why he rarely smiles in photos. Here, some of the night’s most quotable moments.

"Being nice is so important. Especially in fashion where everyone thinks it’s cool to be mean and look at people like they’re doing something wrong, when you know they look hot." — Gigi Hadid, during her acceptance speech for the Model of the Year award, which was presented by longtime friend Nicole Richie.

"I am also wearing clothes this evening. That’s also very rare for me. And when I do put on some clothes, most likely Jeremy Scott designed it and created it. You can thank him when I don’t have my titties out."  — Miley Cyrus, introducing Womenswear Designer of the Year award winner Jeremy Scott.

"When I’m designing women’s shoes, I am thinking of a specific woman. Number one, I am not a designer, I just do shoes, so she is naked — with shoes. She has a different attitude, she is quite powerful, she loves more than anything else to be a woman." — Christian Louboutin, accepting the Shoe Designer of the Year award from actress Kerry Washington.

"And people, the paparazzi, always come up to me [and say], 'Why are you not smiling?' And I think, like, not smiling makes me smile. When you see paintings in an old castle, people are not smiling, cause it just wouldn’t look as cool." — Kanye West, presenting Milk Studios founder Mazdack Rassi with the Fashion Innovator of the Year award.
