'Dali,' 'Mary Mother' sold abroad

BERLIN -- Media 8 Entertainment has closed several major sales for two of its big titles, "Mary Mother of Christ" and "Dali."
"Mary," the retelling of the Biblical story featuring Camilla Belle, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Peter O'Toole, has been sold to SPI (Eastern Europe), Lusomundo (Portugal), Gulf (Middle East), Horizon (Turkey), Nu Metro (South Africa) and Pioneer Films (the Philippines), South Africa (Nu Metro), Greece (Odeon) and the Philippines (Pioneer Films).
Argentinean helmer Alejandro Agresti ("The Lake House") will direct the film, which is scheduled to begin its Morroco shoot in May with Aloe Entertainment and Dune Films producing. Al Pacino and Jessica Lange also are in talks to join the movie. MGM is distributing the movie in the U.S.
"Dali," a Salvador Dali biopic starring Antonio Banderas, has been sold to RCV (Benelux), Lusomundo (Portugal), Gulf (Middle East), Village (Greece). Spanish distributor Arcadia picked up the rights for Spain and Latin America.
Media 8 is exec producing the movie, which is being directed by Simon West. The movie, described as a modern day portrait, will blend music and CGI sequences to capture the surreal nature of its colorful subject.
