"It's wonderful that you're allowed to have a butt nowadays," she says.

Ain’t no shame in this Dame’s game! Dame Helen Mirren, 70, isn’t into the Kardashians, but she does have a thing or two to say about Kim’s world-famous derriere. In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, Mirren praises Kim and her ilk for their role in redefining standards of beauty.

"I’m not into the Kardashians, it’s a phenomenon I just don’t find interesting, but — and this is the big word: B-U-T-T —it’s wonderful that you’re allowed to have a butt nowadays!" Mirren told the British newspaper during the Cannes Film Festival. "Thanks to Madame Kardashian, and before her, J-Lo. We’re also allowed to have thighs now, which is great too. It’s very positive."

Other women who get the Mirren stamp of approval include those who have "claimed their own bodies," she says, such as Madonna, Joan Jett, Bonnie Raitt, Chrissie Hynde and the band Pussy Riot. "I love Pussy Riot more than anything in the world," says Mirren. "They all raise their middle fingers to this epithet of 'slut.' They wear what they want to wear, behave as they want to behave."

For Mirren, the best part of getting older is “finally being relieved of the whole sex-symbol tag” she says. But no matter how old she is, she still gets intimidated by the Cannes Film Festival, which the L'Oreal ambassador has been attending since 1973. "It’s very hard, with all these amazing women — glorious creatures — and their clothes and their makeup…. Sometimes you feel wonderful and — it’s the same whether you’re 13 or 26 or 86 — sometimes you feel insecure and frightened. That can change five or six times a day."
