Damian Kavanaugh tapped at CBBC

Will take over for Anne Gilchrist as controller

LONDON -- It's kids stuff for BBC head of planning and scheduling Damian Kavanagh, who has been appointed controller of the pubcaster's children's output arm CBBC.

Kavanagh takes the reins from Anne Gilchrist, who is joining the BBC's in-house comedy department as creative and business director.

He will start his new role in September on an initial year's attachment overseeing all programs and multiplatform commissioning for the CBBC Channel and the two dedicated blocks on BBC1 and 2, the Beeb said Tuesday.

He joins from Daytime where he is currently head of planning and scheduling and executive producer on shows such as "Escape to the Country," "Hospital Heroes" and "The Unsellables."

Kavanagh has previously worked as head of scheduling at BBC Children's, and as an indie commissioning executive. Prior to this he was head of planning and scheduling for BBC3 and was acting controller following Stuart Murphy's departure.
