Truth Still - H 2015

The film about the CBS anchor's coverage of George W. Bush's Air National Guard career stars Robert Redford and Cate Blanchett.

The European premiere of the Dan Rather movie Truth will kick off the Rome Film Festival's 10th edition, which is aimed at creating a celebration of cinema in Italy’s film capital.

James Vanderbilt, best known for his work as a screenwriter on The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 and Zodiac, makes his directorial debut with the Robert Redford starrer, which had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.

Cate Blanchett, Dennis Quaid, Topher Grace and Elisabeth Moss also star in the newsroom drama about “Rathergate.” The film follows the events that led to Dan Rather’s (Redford) downfall after his unconfirmed reporting of the questionable Air National Guard career of George W. Bush.

Truth is a powerful and effective debut by a director we will be talking about for a very long time,” said artistic director Antonio Monda.

The 10th edition of the Rome Film Fest takes place Oct. 16-24.
