'Dance' helps Fox waltz away with win


NEW YORK -- "So You Think You Can Dance" gave Fox the win in primetime Wednesday.

The two-hour "Dance" averaged 9.2 million viewers and a 4.0 rating/12 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates released Thursday by Nielsen Media Research.

Wednesday also marked the return of ABC's "Traveler" (6.2 million, 2.0/6), which was beaten by a repeat "CSI: NY" (10 million, 2.9/8) but came out ahead of a repeat "Medium" (4.6 million, 1.5/4) at 10 p.m. ABC's "Next Best Thing" (7.7 million, 2.5/8) came out slightly ahead of the first hour of "Dance" at 8 p.m. in viewership.

Nightly averages: Fox (9.2 million, 4.0/12); CBS (8 million, 2.4/7); ABC (6.3 million, 2.0/6); NBC (5.9 million, 1.9/6); and the CW (2 million, 0.9/3).
