CANNES -- German star Daniel Bruhl has set up a production outfit, fouronfilm, together with Berlin-based company Film1.

The group's first project will be an adaptation of "Gnadenfrist" (Reprieve) from Dutch author Arnon Grunberg, which Andreas Kleinert ("Freischwimmer") will direct. It will be first-ever production credit for Bruhl, who starred in Film1's "Lila" and "A Friend of Mine."

Film1 produced "Phantom Pain," also based on a Grunberg novel, and starring Til Schweiger, is being shopped to buyers in Cannes by Bavaria Film International.
