Dardenne brothers earn fete by the sea

Will receive lifetime achievement award in September

AMSTERDAM -- Belgian directing brothers Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne, twice winners of the Festival de Cannes' Palme d'Or, will receive a lifetime achievement award Sept. 20 at the 10th Film by the Sea festival.

Luc Dardenne will be on hand to accept the award. He also will attend the Dutch premiere of the latest Dardenne film, "Le Silence de Lorna" (Lorna's Silence).

Previous lifetime award honorees include Ettore Scola, Saul Zaentz, Milos Forman, Istvan Szabo, Jonathan Demme and Volker Schlondorff.

The Film by the Sea fest takes place Sept. 12-21 in the Dutch town of Vlissingen.
