The 'mother!' director will attend the festival, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

Darren Aronofsky will be holding a master class at the Mumbai Film Festival later this month.

“I am excited to return to India, a country I have enjoyed as a tourist many times in the past," Aronofsky said in a statement. "I’m looking forward to filling my eyes, ears and all my senses with the beauty of Mumbai. I have heard the Mumbai Film Festival is a world-class event and I can’t wait to be a part of it."

In the past, the festival has hosted master classes by Oliver Stone, Cary Fukunaga and Chinese director Jia Zhangke, among other luminaries.

Following his film mother!, which starred Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem and bowed at Venice last year, Aronofsky produced in partnership with Nutopia, the National Geographic docuseries One Strange Rock. Narrated by Will Smith, the 10-episode series traveled to 45 countries and six continents covering various aspects about life on planet Earth.

Organized by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Images, the Indian festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. While the festival is still to unveil its complete lineup, organizers have confirmed the lineup for the India Gold competition section. It includes Bulbul Can Sing, the latest project by director Rima Das, whose 2017 title Village Rockstars has been announced as India's entry for the best foreign-language film race at the Oscars.

Presented by telecom giant Reliance Jio in association with Fox's Star India network, the Mumbai Film Festival runs Oct. 25-Nov. 1.
