Fans who watched the 2002 'X-Files' series finale might find this confusing.

In addition to Agents Mulder and Scully, two iconic characters will be returning to Fox's X-Files reboot, according to David Duchovny.

Duchovny appeared on the Late Show with Davie Letterman Tuesday night, where he revealed Walter Skinner (played by Mitch Pileggi) and the Cigarette-Smoking Man (originally played by William B. Davis) will be returning to the show.

Fans might be confused to hear the C-Man is returning after (spoiler alert) he was apparently killed by helicopter rocket in the show's 2002 series finale, but show creator Chris Carter once reportedly said, "No one ever really dies on X-Files."
