David Janollari eyeing MTV post

Negotiating to serve as senior vp West Coast development

Industry veteran David Janollari is in talks with MTV to join the network as a senior vp of West Coast development, sources say.

Janollari most recently served as an independent producer, following his stint as president of entertainment at the WB.

He was previously partnered with Bob Greenblatt, now entertainment president at Showtime. Their company, the Greenblatt Janollari Studio, was behind several series, including HBO's "Six Feet Under" and PBS' "American Family."

During Janollari's six-year tenure as an executive at Warner Bros. TV, he was key player in bringing "Friends" creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane to the studio. Janollari ascended to executive vp creative affairs at the studio before leaving to launch Greenblatt Janollari in late 1997.

Janollari's executive resume also includes a gig in comedy development at Fox.

MTV had no comment.
