Davis catches Morris' pitch

Davis Entertainment has picked up a comedy pitch from newcomer scribe Jeff Morris for the low six figures.

Although plot details are under wraps, Morris' pitch is in the vein of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," Davis president Derek Dauchy said.

"We love Jeff; he's got a great new comedic voice," Dauchy said.

Morris inked the deal with Davis in late April. Davis ("I, Robot") has a first-look deal with Fox for the project. Dauchy is producing, along with John Davis and Ira Napoliello.

This is the first sale for Morris, a former bartender and political science major at Arizona State University. He wrote and directed the indie film "You Did What?" which won the Orson Welles Award for outstanding achievement for a first-time director at the Tiburon International Film Fest.

He is repped by Zero Gravity Management.
