Daytime Emmys returning to CBS

Awards ceremony will air from Las Vegas

The Daytime Emmys are returning to the Big Four.

The underdog awards ceremony will air on CBS after spending last year downshifted to the CW. The Daytime Emmys will air from Las Vegas for the first time.

"The Daytime Emmy Awards are one of the cornerstones of our business, and we are thrilled to be back on CBS," said Herb Granath, chairman, National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. "Last year's show was one of the most entertaining events in our history, and this year's Las Vegas-based broadcast promises to be even more exciting."

Most award shows have improved in recent years, but the Daytime Emmys have struggled.

After a couple decades rotating among the major broadcast networks, the ceremony's future as a broadcast franchise seemed in doubt after last year's outing, which was seen by less than 3 million viewers.

CBS telecast will air live in primetime on Sunday, June 27.
