Deal brings Dailymotion to TV sets

PARIS -- French media-sharing Web site Dailymotion has teamed with telecommunications group Neuf Cegetel to air exclusive Dailymotion footage on Neuf's HD TV network, the two companies said Wednesday.

The new deal marks the first time that a video-sharing Internet site is available on television. Neuf HD TV subscribers will be able to watch more than 30,000 Dailymotion videos in full-screen format on their televisions thanks to "MotionMaker" software encoded specifically for Neuf HD TV.

Hundreds of new videos will be added each day. The Dailymotion-Neuf HD TV interactive interface was developed in partnership with the Proservia group.

Viewers can navigate the Dailymotion site using their TV remote control. Viewing options include full screen; half-screen, which ensures a better size-quality ratio; and player mode, in which users can share information about the video being played.

Neuf is hoping the new deal will open its service to new subscribers from Dailymotion's 10 million-plus members.
