Deal puts 'Sopranos' on Canadian mobiles

TORONTO -- Canadian phone giant Bell Canada on Tuesday began delivering full episodes of "The Sopranos" to its mobile phone subscribers as part of an exclusive supply agreement with HBO.

In addition to the popular mob series, Bell said that its mobile customers can now watch on-demand episodes of "Entourage," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Tell Me You Love Me" and "Sex and the City" as well as stand-up comedy shows for CAN$10 ($9.75) a month plus browser usage fees.

As part of the HBO subscription package, Bell Mobility customers also will be able to view HBO previews, trailers, bonus footage and stand-up comedy clips and purchase images, ringtones and voicetones.

"This agreement exemplifies our goal to grow our profile in the international marketplace through digital platforms," Stanley Fertig, senior vp of HBO International, said in a statement with Bell Canada.

Bell Mobility will initially launch the HBO product in English-speaking Canada, followed by a dubbed French-language launch in May.
