Debbie Travis, CBC to produce reality series

Showcasing local heroes in Canadian communities nationwide

TORONTO -- TV design diva Debbie Travis has partnered with WPP's GroupM Entertainment and the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. to launch a new reality series.

Travis, whose design competition series "From the Ground Up with Debbie Travis" aired on rival Global Television, starting in 2005, and Fine Living stateside, is moving to the CBC to launch "The Debbie Travis Show."

The reality series will showcase local heroes in Canadian communities nationwide.

Travis' latest series will be produced by Whalley-Abbey Media, her Montreal-based production shingle, in association with the CBC and WPP's GroupM Entertainment.

GroupM Entertainment earlier co-produced the indie competition series "Battle of the Blades" and the daytime talker "Steven and Chris" for the CBC.

Travis' move to the CBC follows her and husband/business partner Hans Rosenstein ankling Toronto indie producer RTR Media to focus on projects with Whalley-Abbey Media.

Besides her TV properties, Travis also oversees an expanding slate of merchandising and book properties.
