Deluxe New York opens its doors

Brett Ratner, Joel and Ethan Coen among attendees at ribbon-cutting ceremony

New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, Tribeca Film Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal and directors Brett Ratner and Joel and Ethan Coen were among those in attendance at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Deluxe New York.

The facility, in the West Village, houses a motion picture laboratory, set to open early next month, and a Deluxe-owned Efilm digital intermediate operation, scheduled to launch in June.

"We are thrilled that Deluxe is making a commitment to our city and our economy, and I welcome them," Bloomberg said.

Deluxe, which owns facilities around the world, is a subsidiary of MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings, for which Ronald Perelman serves as chairman and CEO. Perelman and Deluxe president/CEO Cyril Drabinsky also participated in Thursday's ceremony.

New York State is preparing to boost the below-the-line tax credit for film and TV productions to 30%, plus an added 5% for New York City projects.
