Deneuve, Rowlands are choices for voices


Catherine Deneuve and Gena Rowlands have signed on to voice characters in the English-language version of the French animated film "Persepolis."

Sony Pictures Classics will handle the North American release of the film, an adaptation of Iranian author Marjane Satrapi's graphic novel autobiographies "Persepolis" and "Persepolis 2."

It's slated for completion in April from co-writers/directors Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud.
Deneuve will voice the lead character's mother (as she does in the French version), and Rowlands will voice the her grandmother in the true tale of a precocious girl growing up in Iran during the Islamic revolution.

Marc-Antoine Robert and Xavier Rigault of 2.4.7. Films are producing, with Kathleen Kennedy of the Kennedy/Marshall Co. exec producing the co-production with France 3 Cinema.
