DGA members in news, sports ratify contract

DGA members working in news, sports and operations for networks have ratified their three-year network contract with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers, officials said Wednesday.

The contract covers Guild staff and freelance members and incorporates annual wage increases and other negotiated benefits for directors. It also includes "a framework for ongoing dialogue during the term of the agreement," which the DGA has said refers to administrative issues regarding changes in pension and health plans during contract.

The new contract for the helmers was hammered out last November after four bargaining sessions.

The national board approved sending the new contract to members in January. Ballots were sent out Feb. 11 to members who only work under the network contract.

Per DGA policy, the vote count or percentage was not released. The new pact takes effect July 1 and runs through June 30, 2011.
