Digital b'casts on pace to top 50% in Russia

Mark expected to be reached by the end of the year

MOSCOW -- The proportion of digital broadcasting in Russia's cable networks will exceed 50% by the end of 2008, according to research published Wednesday by local research outfit Grotek.

At a Moscow press conference, Grotek business development director Alexander Vlasov pointed out that 10% of Russia's households currently receive a digital TV signal, while in Moscow, 85% of households have access to digital television.
