Digital future under discussion in Beijing

Industry leaders to gather to talk content protection

BEIJING -- A group of Chinese media industry leaders will gather in Beijing on Thursday to discuss content protection in the digital age.

Wang Xiaojie, the director general of the Technology Department of the State Administration of Radio Film and Television will welcome guests from around the world and introduce keynote speaker Charles Zhang, founder and CEO of Internet portal, organizers at the Singapore-based Center for Content Protection, said.

"We have a lot of user generated content sites participating, which is a really good sign that key members of China's growing industry are interested in learning how to monetize the distribution of protected, not pirated, content," said Isa Seow, the Center's managing director.

Set for Wednesday  at the Novotel Peace Hotel in Beijing, the daylong event begins with a session on the new media landscape moderated by Steven Kopec, director of platform research at Turner International Asia Pacific, and moves on to a session on the Internet & UGCs moderated by the National Basketball Assn.
