Director Podeswa joins 'The Borgias'

His credits include 'Six Feet Under,' 'The Pacific'

TORONTO -- Canadian Jeremy Podeswa has joined the Showtime cable drama "The Borgias" as director.

Podeswa ("Six Feet Under," "The Pacific") will share duties with Neil Jordan, who will write and direct the first two episodes, while Michael Hirst ("Elizabeth") will pen the remaining eight episodes.

Fellow Canucks Paul Sarossy has been tapped as director of photography and Francois Seguin as production designer for the replacement drama for "The Tudors" being structured as a Canadian-Hungary-Ireland co-production.

"The Borgias" also will air in Canada on CTV and Bravo.

The cable drama about a powerful and corrupt 15th century Italian family will be shot in Hungary in the summer; it bows in 2011.

Canadians John Weber and Sheila Hockin are sharing the executive producer credits with James Flynn and Neil Jordan in Ireland and and Michael Hirst in the U.K.

Also part of the early creative lineup for "The Borgias" is Canadian Bill Goddard to co-produce the 10-part series, with Karen Richards as line producer.
