Dis Channel taps Gardiner vp

Disney Channel has upped Beth Gardiner to vp development and programming at Playhouse Disney.

Gardiner, who was executive director of development and programming, will continue to oversee the development and production of original series for Playhouse Disney, the network's programming block targeted at preschoolers.

She also is responsible for supervising series production and development for some of Playhouse Disney's most successful series, including "My Friends Tigger & Pooh," "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and "Little Einsteins" as well as the new series "Imagination Movers," which begins production in October in New Orleans.

She reports to Nancy Kanter, senior vp original programming at Disney Channel.

Gardiner joined Disney Channel in 2002. Before that, she was a production executive at Nickelodeon, where she worked on such Nick Jr. series as "Little Bear," "Maisy," "Kipper," "Maggie and the Ferocious Beast" and "Oswald."
