The exec has now re-upped his contract until April 1, 2024, with a bump in his annual salary.

Discovery has extended the tenure of Gunnar Wiedenfels as CFO.

On Friday, the cable network group said in an SEC filing that it had signed an agreement on Sept. 22 to extend an original April 1, 2016, employment contract for Wiedenfels through April 1, 2024.

And from Jan. 1, 2021, Wiedenfels’ annual base salary will rise to $1.7 million, against a salary of $1.16 million in 2019, and he will continue to receive annual cash incentives and equity awards.

Wiedenfels, who reports to David Zaslav, president and CEO of Discovery, joined the company in April 2016 after serving as CFO of ProSiebenSat.1 in Germany.

The operator of cable TV channels like TLC and Animal Planet and the sports network Eurosport has, like other U.S. media companies, shored up its balance sheet and faced production shutdowns and delays as it continues to navigate the coronavirus pandemic.
