Discovery Networks U.K. topper exits

Dan Brooke steps down after four years

LONDON -- Discovery Networks U.K. boss Dan Brooke is leaving the company after four years, Discovery Networks International CEO Greg Ricca told staffers Tuesday.

In an internal e-mail -- a copy of which was obtained by The Hollywood Reporter -- Ricca thanked Brooke for his "strong leadership in one of the most competitive television markets in the world" and said that DNI COO Sahar Elhabashi will handle Brooke's responsibilities on an interim basis.

"We will immediately begin recruitment efforts both internally and externally to find a managing director for the U.K. business," Ricca said.

Brooke launched the Discovery Knowledge, Discovery Turbo and Investigation Discovery channel brands here and also helped to secure a slot on the Freeview free-to-air digital terrestrial platform for a new channel that will soon air in more than 10 million U.K. homes.
