Discovery Promotes Joseph Boyle to VP Production and Development

He won an Emmy as a producer on 'Deadliest Catch.'

Joseph Boyle has been promoted to vp production and development at Discovery Channel.

Boyle, who won an Emmy for best unstructured reality program as a producer on the network's Deadliest Catch, will continue to be based in Los Angeles and report to Chris Rantamaki, senior vp production and development.

Boyle, who joined Discovery in 2013, has played a key role in shepherding Deadliest Catch along with Naked and Afraid and its spinoff, Naked and Afraid XL; Treasure Quest, and new series Cooper's Treasure.

"Joe's passion, coupled with his strong track record of cultivating successful series, makes him an important addition to our senior team," said Denise Contis, executive vp production and development at Discovery. 

Boyle most recently was senior director of production and development. Before joining Discovery, he was a showrunner at Original Productions. He also has overseen productions for TLC, Animal Planet, Science Chanel, History and Syfy.
