Discovery taps two for production

Mohs was at Animal Planet; Sampson hails from Spike

Discovery Channel has hired Kevin Mohs as vp production and Wayne Sampson as director of development and production.

Mohs, formerly vp production at Animal Planet, will manage content and production of all cross-platform programs for the network. He reports to Gena McCarthy, senior vp production and development at Discovery.

While at Animal Planet, Mohs created specials like "River Monsters" and the long-running series "Animal Precinct."

Sampson, previously director original programming at Spike TV, will expand Discovery's West Coast development and production. He reports to Elli Hakami, vp development West Coast.

At Spike, Sampson oversaw production on such shows as "1000 Ways to Die" and "The Ultimate Fighter."

"Kevin and Wayne both bring an immense amount of skill and talent to Discovery," McCarthy said. "These additions underscore our focus on continuing our strong track record of attracting compelling and unique talent, new and provocative genres and distinctive, quality content to the network."
