Discovery unveils new program content

Shows focus on animals and nature, include shock-docs

Discovery Communications, one of the key players in the international non-scripted format business, has unveiled a new slate of factual and entertainment program content focused on animals, nature, science, engineering, lifestyle and health.

Projects being introduced for licensing by broadcasters at Mipcom for the first time include Science Channel's "Into the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman," Animal Planet's "Gorilla School" and Discovery Health shock-docs "Born Schizophrenic" and "My Strange Addiction."

Non-scripted formats now account for some 20% of all the business transacted during the two big Cannes bazaars -- MIP in April and MIPCOM in October.
