Disney ABC gets more hands on with Jetix

Move will cut costs at kids venture

LONDON -- Disney ABC International is taking over management of channel distribution and carriage deals for Disney-owned kids venture Jetix Europe in a move that will cut costs at the pan-European venture and give it more muscle when it comes to negotiating distribution deals.

Execs at Disney's newly integrated TV distribution division will take over the negotiation of carriage deals across cable, satellite, IPTV and pay-per-view platforms in a move likely to result in redundancies at Jetix.

The venture, formally Fox Kids Europe, announced in May that revenue was down 19% to 72 million euros ($112.7 million) when it posted its half-year results.
