Disney debuts on H.K. SVOD

HONG KONG -- The Disney Channel has launched a subscription VOD service in Hong Kong through PCCW's IPTV platform Now TV, Disney announced Tuesday.

The deal marks Disney's first SVOD service in the territory.

"Disney Channel SVOD greatly enhances the Disney television experience for kids who already enjoy Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney in Hong Kong," said Chris Williams, vp business development at Walt Disney Television International in Asia Pacific.

Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney were launched on Now TV in 2004. PCCW is the largest telecommunications operator in Hong Kong and their Now TV service is the world's largest rollout of IPTV.

Shows will include "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody," "That's So Raven," "Lilo & Stitch" as well as "American Dragon."

Last month Disney Channel Taiwan launched full-length Mandarin-dubbed and Chinese-subtitled episodes of its shows on their official Taiwan Web site.
