Disney India, Khan debut 'Ishaan'

Tween musical set to bow May 15

NEW DELHI -- Walt Disney Television International India announced Thursday it will bow tween musical drama “Ishaan” on May 15, produced by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's banner Red Chillies Entertainment.
Described as the “inspiring musical journey of a boy who finds friends and a sense of belonging through music” and featuring an ensemble cast of newcomers, “Ishaan” is created by writer Jaydeep Sarkar and directed by Iqbal Rizvi. The series will include a soundtrack of 11 original tracks composed by well-known Bollywood music directors Dhruv Ghanekar and R. Anandh.
“I have always enjoyed watching Disney Channel with my kids and I am happy that my company is producing a show that will be part of the Disney family,” Khan said in a statement.

“’Ishaan’ brings Disney brand promises to life – optimism, self-expression, imagination, entertainment, quality – and joins our music-driven properties including ‘Hannah Montana’ and ‘High School Musical,’ in delivering relatable characters and stories to India’s youth,” Natasha Malhotra, WDTII VP and GM added.
Khan's latest release, “My Name Is Khan” was the debut Bollywood production by Fox Star Studios coproduced with Red Chillies and director Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.
Meanwhile, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures India is all set to release its debut live action production “Zokkomon” this summer starring popular child actor Darsheel Safary as a superhero.
